A Facebook Page or a Facebook VIP Group?Which Social Media Platform should You choose for your Cottage Bakery?

So you finally decided to start selling your bakes and you think Facebook will be a good place to start- great, you are right. You can make a lot of sales off of social media and Facebook is one of the biggest platforms out there right now. So, which should you choose? A Facebook Page or a Facebook Group to start out with?

Right now, Facebook Groups have a pretty astounding reach when it comes to Facebook. What is reach exactly? It’s the Facebook term meaning how many people see your posts on the platform. The more the reach, the better chance you have of making a sale and securing that order.

With a Facebook Group for your home-based bakery (or heck, for your brick and mortar bakery too), you can create a loyal following without the throttled reach that Facebook Pages suffer from. This is awesome for someone just starting out because you know have to invest in Facebook Ads just to get someone to see your posts. That means more money in your pocket which is a great thing to have.

Pros to a Facebook Group

  • Unique Groups algorithm:
Facebook Groups have their own algo that’s different from what Facebook Pages have to fight through. It’s another effective way to cut through the feed.
  • Increased profits:
The corporation will experience an increase in profits due to savings in operating costs as well as sales from new products, services and ventures.
  • Ability to use Facebook Planner:
The link between profits and business value means that the moment a corporation creates a new sustainable level of profit, the business value is adjusted accordingly.
  • Lower staff turnover:
This, combined with the culture that must exist for innovation and creativity to flourish, means that new employees will be attracted to the organization.

The pros to having a Facebook Page are that you can run ads! Ads are awesome especially when you are new to an area or trying to reach an audience that maybe hasn’t ever heard of you yet. You can get Page Insights so you can see exactly what your audience is interested in when it comes to your posts and things like age ranges and location. You can also link your Business Instagram Account to your Facebook Page and cross-post which saves you time and if time truly means money- that means more money in your pocket at the end of the day.

So, it seems that we haven’t chosen a “better” option and that’s because it comes down to you. What aspect of Groups or a Page captures your attention the most? Which one do you think you could put the most time into?

Pros to a Facebook Page

  • Ability to run Facebook Ads:
Rather than be constrained by ideas for new products, services and new markets coming from just a few people, a Thinking Corporation can tap into the employees.
  • Instagram Business Connection:

At the end of the day, I’d suggest having a private Group and linking it to your public Facebook Page so you can funnel your warmest audience from one into the other, but sometimes we don’t have all the time in the world. Whichever option you think you can invest the most time in and get a return on that investment is the one you should go with. Later on down the road, you can always create a Group or a Page but focus on one if that’s all the time you have right now.
